Paddington Heritage, Sydney NSW Australia

Background:

Located in 166 Paddington Street, Paddington Sydney NSW Australia, the previous design of this Heritage listed home was outdated and required demolition of the basement area. Attic space also needed updating.

Project Requirements:

  • respect its Victorian-era heritage

  • plenty of storage space for a large family home

  • stair design to suit

  • plenty of space for family members to gather around together as a family

  • balconies where appropriate

  • re-design the attic space

Concept:

This design utilises upmarket bespoke designs with the highest quality fixtures and finishes. Using quality Bluestone pavers in the backyard as a nod to the property's Victorian-era heritage. 2 levels of bespoke joinery in the basement and ground level finished in Artedomus highest grade porcelain panels in the kitchen contrasted with warm earthy tones from FSC grade timber panelled flooring for a sustainable outcome that is built to last and is good for the environment. Bespoke joinery is to be finished in water-based paint from Dulux.

On the ground floor, a balcony was placed just outside of the living room to access the view from Paddington Lane, overlooking a lush landscaped garden, outdoor cinema and barbecue area, which provide plenty of space for the family to gather.

The first level is used for sleeping quarters with the utmost privacy guaranteed. The master suite also has a balcony overlooking the backyard.

The attic was converted into a rooftop terrace with a bar and spa using computerised Vergola system for roofing. A Velux skylight was inserted in the roof to provide natural lighting to filter through the rooftop terrace as well the main bathroom on the first level. Vintec wine and cheese refrigerators sit at the bar area to captivate and delight any entertainer at heart.
